Burpo Down
Photographer Allison Andrews of Portland captures the moments after Sounders goalie Preston Burpo has collided with teammate Danny Jackson. Burpo ended up with a broken jaw. While he was recovering Rich Cullen became a star in goal for Seattle. Later in the season Danny Jackson would tear an ACL ending his 2003 campaign before the league playoffs even started.

Photographer George Holland captured this header battle during the Seattle-San Jose Open Cup match at Husky Soccer Field on August 5. The Sounders shocked the soccer world with a 1-0 upset victory. Ryan Edwards is the "Sounder in White" in the photograph.
